After watching the video on the history of Taiwan, I looked at what Amerika calls 'an unsinkable aircraft carrier' on G Earth.
It's pretty hard to build a major airbase on a mountain range, so the logical choice would be the more level land on the west coast which looks to be heavily inhabited and urbanised. I wonder if the people who live there realise this.
